Portland International Church was birthed in January 1993 through the vision of Rev. Dr. Seth Anyomi, President of African Christian Ministry (ACM). His God-given mandate was clear: to establish a strong, local, international community of believers anchored in Jesus Christ. What began humbly—with our first worship gathering in a cafeteria on the Western Seminary campus at SE 55th and Hawthorne—has since become a spiritual home for many.
From there, the Lord led us to a second location, where our spiritual foundations deepened, and our community began to flourish. In time, we were moved again—this time to the heart of downtown Portland at 909 SW 11th Ave, where we are currently planted. Each move has not just been geographic, but prophetic—signaling growth, deeper manifestations of God’s presence, and greater communion with Jesus Christ.
Today, the mantle rests on the shoulder of Pastor Kofi Nelson-Owusu who serves relentlessly with his beloved wife, First Lady Saundra Nelson-Owusu—faithful stewards of the vision, leading with wisdom, humility, and power.
We exist as a local body to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to all people, drawing souls into the Kingdom through the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. Portland International Church is a ministry under the covering of African Christian Ministry (ACM), continuing the work of reconciliation, revival, and restoration across generations.
